| Goldendoodles are a cross between a Golden Retriever and Standard Poodle. They were first bred in the mid 1990's.The popularity grew quickly as the dogs became known for having the wonderful Golden temperament but not the same amount of shedding. Some breeders went on to breed first cross Goldendoodles back to poodles to produce backcross Goldendoodle puppies for those who needed a definite non-shedder and definite allergy friendly coat. Goldendoodles have not developed beyond this, but there are some who are pursuing developing a multi-gen Goldendoodle and hope to have it recognized some day as it's own breed. There are now miniature Goldendoodles being bred as well. . This breed is affectionate, intelligent and eager to please. Making Goldendoodles a terrific family pet. The F1 (first generation) coats can take after the poodle and be loose curls or they can take after the retriever and have a longer wavy or shaggy appearance. They also are allergy and asthma friendly due to lower dander levels.. Goldendoodle females are anywhere between 40 to 60 pounds and the males 50-70 pounds. |

Labradoodles originated in Australia in the 1980's as a lead/guide (service) dog for disabled persons that had allergies to the common breeds used for service dogs. Australian products cross a Lab with a Poodle as well as a "secret" mix of up to 8 other breeds that they are not disclosing, but the predominance is lab and poodle. We have identified our compatible, select bloodlines to produce a non- or low- shedding dog, with minimal or no doggy odor showing an intermediate coat type. This mix also adds the intelligence of the poodle to the level-headed sense and stability of the Labs which is so desired in both handicap-assist dogs as well as good family dogs. The popularity of the labradoodle has led to a large number of people jumping on the "bandwagon" and attempting to do their own breeding – this practice is resulting in a dog of far lesser quality than most folks would want for a family companion. Inexperienced breeders do not realize that the vast majority of these first generation dogs will shed and still carry many of the other traits that are trying to be avoided in a good-quality Labradoodle. In addition, these inexperienced breeders usually do not take temperament or health testing into consideration. No matter where you get your "doodle", please be careful to assure yourself that you are indeed getting what you want in a dog. |

They bring these things from their parentage. Please do not let those out there who try to say that this breed needs a special manual or other things sway you. This is a combination of breeds yes. The same as those you get from any pound..Except these puppies have parents who are health tested and you know who they are. What temperment the parents have. This is a VERY good indicator on puppies. Insted of an accident they were planned, loved and pampered until they find their new homes. For years famililes have adopted dogs with a crossed background and have loved them because of their loyality and good health. Placing puppies has more to do with matching temperment to household than anything else. I try to place puppies on coat colour whenever possible. BUT, it is more important that the puppy be a perfect fit with his character than what colour he is. You cannot take a puppy who is active and needs to run and expect it to lay on the couch. I have provided more info on my temperment testing on the puppy page. |
